Welcome to Myanmar Rattan & Bamboo Entrepreneurs Association

MRBEA is a leading organization that connects the world with Myanmar’s rattan and bamboo handicraft sector. As of August 2024, The Association has a total of 376 members – 85 corporate members and 291 personal members.
MRBEA is dedicated to sustainable development and promotion of the Myanmar rattan and bamboo handicraft sector to the world.

MRBEA promotes its sector –

  1. By setting up rigorous standards of excellence in quality, design and social responsibility for its members;
  2. By creating global opportunities for our exporter members by fostering networking with potential buyers and other organizations; and
  3. By contributing to policy shaping that can help to promote the rattan and bamboo sector in Myanmar’s socioeconomic and environmental development policies

Under the guidance of CBI, MRBEA becomes the first association amongst the four to help develop this website (www.burmacrafts.org) that promotes the Myanmar Rattan and Bamboo Sector as one of the sectors under the Home Decoration and Home Textiles (HDHT).

Our Chairman

Kyaw Thu, the Patron of MRBEA, transitioned from the Ministry of Transport & Communication to private business in 1989, focusing on rattan exports. He founded Classic Home Co., Ltd. in 2005, a thriving family business exporting rattan and bamboo furniture. Kyaw Thu co-founded MRBEA in 2014, elevating it to national recognition in 2015. He also initiated the Myanmar International Furniture Expo (MIFE) in 2015, a prominent industry platform. Additionally, as a co-founder of GREEN MOVE Co., Ltd., Kyaw Thu manages over 150 acres of bamboo farms in Yangon and the Pego region. Kyaw Thu’s leadership and commitment have been the driving force in propelling the rattan and bamboo industry in Myanmar, shaping its trajectory towards sustainability and growth.

Mr. Nay Htun Min served as Chairman of the Myanmar Rattan and Bamboo Entrepreneurs Association from 2018 to 2022, significantly contributing to its growth. During his leadership, he formalized collaborations by signing a Letter of Agreement with the Department of Research and Innovation and a Memorandum of Understanding with Asia Crafts Link for cooperative project implementation. Throughout his leadership, he demonstrated dedication and commitment to fostering growth and development within the Association, spearheading initiatives that led to of rattan and bamboo industries in Myanmar. He provided guidance and participated in organizing the Myanmar International Furniture Expo ( MIFE ) events to help raise funds for the MRBEA association. Additionally, he took the lead in the establishment of the Rattan and Bamboo Training School under the Myanmar Rattan and Bamboo Entrepreneurs Association, with the aim of promoting the development of rattan and bamboo crafts in Myanmar. Rattan and Bamboo basic craft courses were also held in cooperation with relevant organizations. He fulfilled the tasks to be carried out to develop the team.

With certifications from AOTS/HIDA Tokyo, Japan, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore, he brings strategic leadership skills to his position. As the founder of Bella Interiors, Myint Oo has been involved in the export of rattan and bamboo home decoration products. Under his leadership, MRBEA promotes eco-friendly initiatives and technological advancements, aiming to enhance the industry’s competitiveness and sustainability. Myint Oo’s focus is on positioning Myanmar as a leader in rattan and bamboo craftsmanship.
